Basil's Farm Cafe

Basils Farm Cafe visits the village hall each Friday morning and welcomes everyone to enjoy their gorgeous cakes, burgers and hot drinks. Basils Farm is based in Byslips Road, Studham. The owner is Sharon Hitchins (seen here in the 4th photo)  and her mission is to give animal care and horticultural work experience to Learners with a range of disabilities. In the interest of its Learners, Basils Farm is secure, but they welcome visitors by arrangement. Sharon tells me that her Learners come from a range of local care facilities and she bubbles with enthusiasm when telling me they "they have so much to give!". They are all so positive. I felt great warmth and welcome at Basils Farm Cafe today. Their food is excellent - believe me, I tested several cakes! All are welcome on Friday mornings and the Village Hall team would love to see even more people popping in. To learn more, visit www.basilsfarm.org or call them on 07940 738383.

Suspended for now, sorry

Kensworth Art Club

I visited Kensworth Art Club to take a few photos and learn more about the group. Originally formed in Dunstable about 20 years ago by Joyce Turner, the art club recently moved to Kensworth Village Hall. The group are welcoming and friendly, with plenty of conversation and cups of tea. Several were munching sandwiches while they worked. The current Organiser, Sonia Aldridge, told me, “We welcome anyone interested in art and craft. Many of us paint in watercolour or acrylic but we also have other craft activities such as beadwork. We meet here every Tuesday from 1 to 4pm and anyone who’d like to come and sit with us can call me on 01582 872115 to find out more. There are ten of us at present but we’d love to see people of all ages. Wheelchair users will find plenty of parking, level access and lots of free space in the hall.

Dog Training at Kensworth Village Hall

The group meets from 18:00 to 20:00 on Wednesday evenings with classes based on the age of your dog. Organiser, Pat Gregory, has many years experience of successfully training dogs (and their owners!) and helping them develop loving, obedient bonds. You can see this in the dogs' faces as they learn to wait quietly whilst their human eats a snack, recall immediately on command, or seek approval for obedience. Pat welcomes dogs of all ages and breeds as you can see here. Each owner & dog receives individual attention as well as taking part in group exercises. For more information please contact Pat on 01582 873614 or email patgregory2023@gmail.com

Kensworth Drop-In (all welcome!)

If you like tea, coffee, biscuits and chocolate in a friendly and fun atmosphere, this might be the place for you! The Thursday drop-in runs from 09:00 to 11:00 and everyone is made welcome. The organiser is Joan Moran, seen here in the first photograph - you can email her at joanmoran6@yahoo.co.uk .

Friday Snack & Chat (all welcome!)

Each Friday morning, Sylvia Inns hosts a community snack & chat drop-in for anyone who fancies some rich, home-made soup, sausage rolls, chocolate biscuits and a goold old natter. Sylvia is in the first photo, in the middle wearing a purple jumper. The warm hub is so welcoming that today she even had visitors from our neighbouring village, Whipsnade. When I visited, the pumpkin soup was made by nearby Basils Farm - it tasted delicious!
